Sunday, June 10, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm

The Vermont State Parks presents the Green Mountain Brass Band in concert at the Waterbury Center State Park during their Vermont Days Celebration on Sunday, June 12 at 1:00 pm. This concert will include a variety of traditional, contemporary and popular band concert music. The Park is handicap-accessible. Admission is free thanks to the generosity of The Vermont State Parks.

Vermont Days, June 9th and 10th, is the weekend to celebrate the arrival of summer and enjoy a free sample of VermontÕs excellent fishing, state parks, and historic and cultural resources. All Vermont State Park day areas, state-owned historic sites, and the Vermont Historical Society Museum in Montpelier will be open at no charge. Saturday, June 9th is free fishing day Š the one day in the year when residents and non-residents may go fishing without a license.

The Brass Band has 26 members and features Cornets, Horns, Trombones, Baritones, Euphoniums, Basses, Drums & Percussion. The Band draws its musicians from northern Vermont's musical community.

Dale Long will be the Bandmaster. Dale studied music at South Burlington High School, the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY, and Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He performed as the euphonium soloist with the Air Force Band of the West for three years. He next became a career Air Force officer and continued to perform with numerous groups while stationed in the U.S. and England. After retiring, Dale returned to South Burlington, VT with his family and currently serves on the Band's Board of Directors.

Nick Bohlen will perform the classic euphonium solo "Largo al Factotum" from The Barber of Seville by Rossini and arranged for Brass Band by Gordon Langford. Nick is a senior at Champlain Valley Union. He performed at the New England and Vermont All State Music Festival this past year, and was lucky enough to play under Lt. Col. Michael Colburn at this year's New England Music Festival. He is a student of Dale Long. He plans to continue to play the euphonium in the Colby College Wind Ensemble next year.
