Welcome to the fourth performance of the Catamount Brass Band. The band played it's first concert to an enthusiastic audience at the Church of the Nazarene in Johnson in December 1999. With this concert, the band returns to Lamoille County to its first performance in a concert hall.
The Brass Band brings together some of the finest brass musicians in our community. They play in groups that include the: Vermont 40th Army Band, Vermont Jazz Ensemble, Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. You can hear them at a variety of Concerts, Musicals, Weddings, and Church Services.
The Band is pleased to have a friend and colleague Bear Irwin as the Guest Conductor. Bear is a longtime music educator and performer in Vermont. He has taught in Burlington, Bristol, Clarendon, Enosburg, Middlebury, and now Rutland. He is familiar to area audiences as the lead trombonist, announcer and manager of the Vermont Jazz Ensemble. He also plays with the jazz-rock dance band Satin n Steel. Living in Brandon, Bear wins the long distance driving award for this concert.
Glendon Ingalls returns to Lamoille County where he grew up and attended Lamoille Union High School. Glendon is a longtime music educator and performer in Vermont. He recently began teaching at Spaulding High School in Barre after many years at the Barre Town School. He is busy most every night performing throughout the State with many groups and on many instruments! The groups and instruments include: the trumpet with the Vermont Jazz Ensemble; the sousaphone with the Onion River Jazz Band; and the string bass with the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra and many jazz combos.
For the last 49 years, The Lamoille County Players have served the community
by bringing musicals and drama to the county. They are also steward of
the Opera House. The proceeds from this concert will support their continuing
efforts to renovate the Opera House, which have recently included insulation
of the building and restoration of the Andrus curtain.
